Santa-Cali-Gon Days

One of the largest Labor Day festivals in the nation, Santa-Cali-Gon Days is next weekend. Santa-Cali-Gon Days draws 250,000 people over four days. This festival offers:

  • nine large craft tents filled with crafters from throughout the country,
  • over fifty food booths,
  • carnival,
  • free concerts and
  • unique contests such as watermelon seed spitting and root beer chugging.

More than 100 local non-profit organizations benefit from Santa-Cali-Gon Days festival.

Labor Day Weekend 2010. September 2nd – September 6th.

Fiesta Hispana

The 26th Annual Fiesta Hispana is on September 11th and September 12th. Enjoy two days of great family entertainment. There will be lots of food, fun, dancing and more. Fiesta Hispana is a free event. Fiesta Hispana is Kansas City’s Premier Fiesta. The mission of Fiesta Hispana is to promote awareness of the Hispanic culture and its contributions in developing the United States of America.

WaterFire 2010

WaterFire is back on September 18th. Designed by award-winning artist Barnaby Evans, WaterFire Kansas City is a unique, multi-sensory experience of music, fire and water. The moving art installation features more than 55 floating bonfires on Brush Creek.

Latino Festival

The Johnson County Library will host a Latino Festival on Saturday, September 4 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Oak Park Neighborhood Library, 9500 Bluejacket, Overland Park, KS.  The community is invited to attend and experience the Latin-American culture through art, music, poetry, dress, dance and crafts. The event is free and open to the public. No registration is necessary.
