Earth Day celebration at the Zoo

Enjoy our Earth Day celebration at the Kansas City Zoo! Do we have a special treat for you! The one and only Spider-Man will swing in to talk to the kids about how to preserve our environment on our KC Zoo Live Stage. Show times will be 12 and 1 p.m. He will also be available for autographs after the 1 p.m. show. TM & copyright 2010 MARVEL.

Recycle at the Zoo! From April 17 thru April 22, bring your food and beverage glass containers (bottles, jars, etc) to be recycled in the Ripple Glass Recycling Bin. There is no need to separate by color – brown, green and clear can all go into the same bin. Ripple Glass recycling is local. Glass recycled by the public is processed locally, and a local company, Owens Corning, remanufactures it into fiberglass insulation. You can also bring in your ink cartridges and cell phone batteries to be recycled at Guest Relations.

Party for the Planet activities include take a walk through the Zoo’s Photo Club Wildlife Photography Art Gallery, learn how to make Scraps into Sculpture and marvel at what masterpieces local Kansas City artists have created and much more! Learn how to conserve with the Zoo’s Green Team and pledge your “One Thing” that you can do to help the environment.

Kansas City Pet Expo

The Kansas City Pet Expo presented by No More Homeless Pets KC is this weekend, April 17th and April 18th. Pets are an integral part of life. Whether it’s traditional dogs and cats, or more exotic lizards and fish, pet ownership is at an all time high. As more species of animals have become readily available as pets, it is important that information, products and services become available for the health, welfare and care of these animals. The goal of the The Kansas City Pet Expo is to provide the public with an opportunity to learn about both common and not-so-common animals that are found as pets, and the products and services that are available to provide optimal care for these animals.

About No More Homeless Pets

No More Homeless Pets KC is building a cooperative effort to transform the greater Kansas City area into a No Kill Community by 2012. This will be accomplished by providing high volume, high quality, low cost spay/neuter services, advocating TNR (Trap/Neuter/Return) for feral/free roaming cats, promoting adoption from local shelters and rescue groups and humane education. Their vision is a lifelong caring home for every pet in Kansas City. For more information on No More Homeless Pets KC, call 816-333-7387 or visit their website at NMHPKC.org.
