Today is the last day that most people have to file their taxes. If you are not ready to file your federal individual income tax return by the due date, you may be able to get an automatic 6-month extension of time to file. To do so, you must file Form 4868, Application for Automatic Extension of Time To File U.S. Income Tax Return  by the due date for filing your calendar year return (usually April 15, Today!!) or fiscal year return. However, you still have to pay the IRS by the due date. In another word, an extension of time to file your return does not grant you any extension of time to pay your tax liability.

If you are planning to mail your tax return to the IRS, then the envelope must be postmarked by midnight tonight. Several post offices in the Kansas City Metro area are opening late tonight to help taxpayers.

If you are mailing your tax return to the IRS, the Postal Service recommends that you use first-class postages, write clearly and include a return address on their return. Postal officials also encouraged tax filers to mail their tax returns in local mailboxes in order to avoid the rush at the Post Office. However,  make sure of the last pickup time so that your return will not be late.

The Meadowmere Park Easter Egg Hunt is on April 3rd in Grandview MO. Children ages 2 – 10 years, accompanied by a parent or guardian will love this annual egg hunt.  Grandview children have been hunting eggs for 36 years!  The Easter Bunny hops into town to lead the hunt for treats and goodies for all.  The hunt begins promptly at 10:30 am.  (Remember to bring your Easter basket.) This is a free Easter event for kids to enjoy.
