The Ninth Annual Eagle Day event sponsored by by the Kansas City Kansas Public Library, Board of Public Utilities and Operation Wildlife is this Saturday January 16th. Everyone is invited to the Mr. & Mrs. F. L. Schlagle Library, an environmental learning center located on the west side of Wyandotte County Lake Park, 91st and Leavenworth Rd. for a day of learning about our national symbol.

• See a live Bald Eagle up close.
• See other live birds of prey on exhibit and talk with volunteers from Operation Wildlife.
• Watch the PBS Nature Series presentation of “American Eagle.”
• Have fun at the children’s activity areas.
• Check out binoculars for viewing the eagles and other wintering birds of the lake.

Schedule of Events:

• Eagle presentations by Operation Wildlife at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
• Birds of Prey exhibit 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Children’s craft activities and eagle watching available all day.
• Watch the PBS presentation of “American Eagle” at 11:30 a.m.

Strawberry Hill Museum in Kansas City, KS, Celebrates the 21st Anniversary Christmas Season starting on Saturday November 21st. All of the proceeds are tax deductible and to benefit The Strawberry Hill Cultural Center & Museum. Christmas themed museum is open until January 31st. In keeping Christ in Christmas, the museum will have an exhibit of 32 donated nativity sets. They will be displayed in the chapel. Featured in the ethnic rooms will be the Christmas traditions that particular culture. Volunteers from each nationality work on these displays.

The Legends 5th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony is this Saturday November 21st. Join the countdown to illuminate The Legends and be among the first in Kansas City to enjoy thousands of lights choreographed to holiday classics. Celebrate the evening with a free live concert featuring The Kansas City Boys Choir and a free open house to My Santa Experience. This event is free.

The 5th Annual KC Guns ‘N Hoses Charity Boxing Event t is this Saturday November 7th. Guns ‘N Hoses is an exciting charity boxing event featuring Police, Fire and EMT personnel within the greater metropolitan area. Participants  from:

the Missouri counties are:

• Cass County,
• Clay County,
• Jackson County and
• Platte County; and

the Kansas counties are:

• Douglas County,
• Johnson County,
• Miami County,
• Shawnee County and
• Wyandotte County.

Safety is paramount during the event, and all bouts are supervised by USA Boxing, which is the national governing body of amateur boxing in the United States. This Policemen & Firemen Amateur Boxing Event is expect to sell-out and a crowd of over 3,000 fans is expected.

100% of the proceeds from Guns ’N Hoses benefit local charities. The majority goes to the Kansas City Crime
Commission’s Surviving Spouse and Family Endowment Fund (SAFE), which provides financial assistance to the spouses and children of local sworn police officers, firefighters and emergency service personnel killed in the line of duty. The balance goes to amateur boxing programs in the Greater Kansas City area.

Bring the family for a safe and fun Halloween celebration at A Legendary Halloween today!  All activities are free and open for children 12 and under. A Legendary Halloween at The Legends at Village West is presented by Providence Medical Center, Star 102, Mix 93.3, KFKF 94.1 and Q104. There will be a Halloween costume parade as well as a costume contest. Infants can also participate. Enjoy:
