Missouri Town 1855 Christmas Open House is this Saturday December 12th. An old fashioned Christmas is what you will find at Missouri Town 1855. Residents of Missouri Town 1855 prepare for the holidays with decorating, singing and hearth cooking. A special visit from a 19th century St. Nicholas will delight all children. German, French and English traditions will be part of this event. Come on out and celebrate the heritage of a traditional Christmas.

Lee’s Summit Mayors Tree Lighting Ceremony is on Friday, November 20th. Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street will host the Mayor’s Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, November 20, 2009, at 6:30 pm at Howard Station Park in Downtown (corner of Third and SE Main). The Mayor will light the downtown with over 100,000 sparkling lights. Free hot chocolate, musical performances and a visit from Santa, Mrs. Claus and his elves will get you in the holiday spirit!

Traditional Holiday Open House in Downtown Lee’s Summit is this weekend, from November 6th toNovember 8th. Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street will kick off the holiday season with its Traditional Holiday Open House. Downtown businesses will offer FREE classes on everything from how to set the perfect holiday table to holiday make-up tips and tricks. Over 40 classes available throughout the weekend! No advanced registration is necessary. Kids can also join in on the fun by visiting the Whoville Kids Area on Saturday, November 7th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Kids will be able to create sparkly ornaments for the Mayor’s Tree, make Grinch masks, and enjoy Whoville coloring pages.

Celebrate Halloween with Spirits from the Past, a 2-day event in Missouri Town 1855 located in Fleming Park on October 23 & 24, 2009.Let the ghosts of the past haunt you at the annual Missouri Town Spirits from the Past. A family oriented evening where ghost stories, spooky images and a special ghoulish hay wagon ride will thrill and chill everyone. Walk along luminary lined paths where children can trick-or-treat throughout the 19th century buildings.

The 7th Annual Rotary of Lee’s Summit Kick It Up! Chilifest starts today, October 9th. This is a two-day community event in downtown Lee’s Summit, MO. Live music, Boulevard beer, kid stuff, food and a national chili cook-off qualifier on the road to the CASI Chili Championship in Terlingua, TX. Taste over 50 chili recipes, made by teams from around the region. Benefit event organized by Rotary of Lee’s Summit.
