Legacy on the Santa Fe Trail
April 15th, 2010
The Reenactors Guild of America presents two days of Old West living history skits and competition. Don’t miss the fast-draw competition at high noon on Saturday! Watch the competitions, shop from Western vendors and artists, and kids will enjoy a rubber-band shooting gallery and other activities just for them. Food will be available, ride a real stagecoach, and have your picture taken as a gunfighter or frontiersman or woman in the old-time photo booth. The Ft. Riley Commanding General’s Color Guard is scheduled to appear on Saturday only. Regular site admission applies.

Spring Plowin and Plantin

Come to Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm Historic Site on Saturday April 10th for plowin and plantin! Depending on the weather and ground conditions, activities may include horses and mules plowing up the wheat fields to prepare for the planting of the spring wheat. Come see what is cooking on Mrs. Mahaffie’s stove, take a stagecoach ride, and see how farmers would get ready for the crops.

Winter on the Farm

Chores didn’t stop in winter on the Mahaffie Farm! Join us for soap making, sausage making, shelling corn and more! Stagecoach rides will be offered (weather and ground conditions permitting) Cozy up to Mrs. Mahaffie’s cookstove and see what is cooking! Regular admission applies and includes ALL activities!
Open Hours & Admission in January, February and March: Wednesday, through Saturday: 10am-4pm and Sundays 1pm-4pm. The Heritage Center and grounds are open as the Mahaffie House will be closed until April. Admission is $3/adults, $2/children ages 5-11 and 4 and under free. (Olathe residents receive $1/off admission with proof of residency).
