Springtime in The Village
This Saturday, April 17th, The Parkinson Foundation of the Heartland, Brighton Gardens and the Prairie Village Merchants are partnering to host “Springtime In The Village.” The Day will begin with “Steps to the Cure”, a 5K Run/Walk and a one mile family fun walk, benefiting the Parkinson Foundation. 5K runners will run on a professionally designed, certified, course through Prairie Village, Kansas. Walkers will follow to show their support and be part of the fun festivities. Participants can enjoy free food and drinks, do some shopping at the Prairie Village shops, enjoy live music, and take part in exciting kid’s activities.
Following the morning events visitor’s can go back in time at the annual “Crusin’ Down Memory Lane” Classic Car and Motorcycle Show. The show will feature over 200 classic vehicles at a show n’ shine event that will include food, live entertainment, and prizes. Families will not want to miss the “Cruisin’ Down Memory Lane” parade where Prairie Village residents will line the streets to watch cars and bikes from the past and present parade through the Village.

Prairie Village Mayor’s Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration
The Prairie Village Mayor’s Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday evening, November 30th. Join City Council representatives, City staff, and residents at Corinth Square, 83rd & Mission Rd, as Mayor Ron Shaffer, with a little help from a special guest from the North Pole, lights the Holiday Tree. The tree is lit as a reminder of the city’s utility assistance and home maintenance program. Available to Prairie Village residents who qualify. Holiday music will be provided by Briarwood Elementary School Choir, Dancerz Unlimited and Steel Elbow. During last year’s holiday season, Prairie Village residents and businesses contributed over $8,600 to the Mayor’s Holiday Tree Fund. The holiday tress will glow during this holiday season bringing warmth to both contributors and families needing assistance.

“A Musical Trip to Our Favorite Places” Dinner Show & Silent Auction
“A Musical Trip to Our Favorite Places” Dinner Show and Silent Auction is presented by the KC Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity as a fundraiser for their music scholarship fund. The silent auction begins at 5 PM and will include gift certificates for concerts, meals, services, and events; theme baskets; music CD’s and more. The catered dinner and show begin at 6 PM. The show will include soloists and ensembles performing selections in a variety of styles of music. The public is welcome. Tickets must be purchased in advance.

Prairie Village Amnesty Day
Today, June 3rd, the Prairie Village municipal court is offering four hours of amnesty to people with outstanding warrants in their city. The Prairie Village Amnesty Day starts now at 4pm.
Anyone who voluntarily surrenders on Amnesty Day will not be arrested for their outstanding Prairie Village warrants and the $50 warrant fee will be waived today only.
