National Public Lands Day
The 16th Annual National Public Lands Day celebration is this Saturday September 26th. But, what is National Public Lands Day? It is the nation’s largest hands-on volunteer effort to improve and enhance the public lands that Americans enjoy. In 2008, 120,000 volunteers built trails and bridges, removed invasive plants and planted more than 1.6 million trees. This project will also involve habitat restoration at George Owens Nature Park. Please wear appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear. Join in as Independence Parks & Recreation celebrates the 16th annual National Public Lands Day. Pre-registration is required for groups.
