Kansas City Events

The 30th Annual American Royal Barbecue is next weekend at the American Royal Complex in Kansas City. This event is sanctioned by Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS). It is the largest BBQ contest in the world. In the past, over 450 teams entered the American Royal BBQ contest and with over 70,000 people in attendance. Parties will be judged Friday October 2nd and Saturday September 3rd evening between 8pm and 10pm. The winning parties will be announced at Sunday’s Awards Ceremony.  All team entries are subject to approval by the judges. Although this event spans over a few days, Friday, is the night to go.

Check-in/ load-in hours for contestants are:

• Thursday, October 1 from 7:00 am – 7:00 pm
• Friday,  October 2 from 7:00 am – 3:00 pm
• Saturday, October 3 from 7:00 am – 10:00 am
