This year, the Kansas City Adopt-A-Family Telethon will be on Wednesday October 20th. Are you looking to adopt a family this Christmas or do you know of people who need help? KMBC/KCWE is teaming up with the Salvation Army to help KC Metro families in need enjoy the holidays. There are many families in need of assistance this year so they need all the help they can get!

How does the Adopt-A-Family Telethon work?

On Wednesday October 20th, many volunteers from the Salvation Army will be at KMBC station to match their viewers with families and senior citizens who need help to have a better holiday season.

Anyone interested in sponsoring a family (adopt a family) are encouraged to call a special phone number to speak with social workers who will take their information down and connect them with a needy family who has signed up for assistance with the Salvation Army.

Join the Blue Springs South Cheerleaders Booster Club this Saturday as they present their 1st annual craft show! Admission is FREE!! This Blue Springs South High School Craft Fair is an indoor event. Come on out and show your love for Blue Springs South and the vendors participating in this show. There is something for everyone!! Come do a little early Christmas shopping or sign up to host one of the reps parties and make some Christmas $$!

The annual Ethnic Food and Pastry Sale hosted by Holy Trinity Church at the corner of 119th and Pflumm in Overland Park KS will be on October 22nd and October 23rd. Come to the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church on Friday, October 22nd and Saturday, October 23rd from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Dine in, carry out, and come see the angels! Dive into a mouthwatering plate of your favorite Russian, Greek or Lebanese foods. For lunch and dinner you can choose one of these scrumptious meals:

• Russian plate: cabbage roll, vegetable beef soup and babka bread
• Greek vegetarian plate: spinach and filo pie, Greek green beans and pita bread

The Annual Overland Park Business to Business Expo is taking place on October 27th. This B2B Expo is presented by the Overland Park Chamber of Commerce with sponsor Cleveland Chiropractic College.  The Overland Park Chamber of Commerce’s annual Business-to-Business Expo showcases the local business community with more than 100 exhibitors and 600+ attendees. In addition to the trade show, there will be:

• on-stage product demonstrations,
• business workshops,
• door prizes presented throughout the afternoon and
• a networking reception to make new business contacts

Save the Date for the Junior League of Kansas City Holiday Mart 2010 that will take place at the Overland Park Convention Center from October 21 – 24, 2010. The Junior League of Kansas City Holiday Mart is an upscale shopping extravaganza that has become a fall tradition to Kansas City. Each year, Holiday Mart features over 200 specialty retailers and attracts over 22,000 shoppers.

Proceeds from the Junior League of Kansas City Holiday Mart benefit the JLKCMO, its volunteer and financial commitment to children’s fitness and nutrition.
