Start the Halloween weekend off right with a family concert on Friday, October 30th in Overland Park, KS. Members of the Overland Park Orchestra and Legacy School of Dance will perform for your dressed up children starting at 7 p.m. in Yardley Hall on the campus of Johnson County Community College, 12345 College Boulevard. There will be a reception beginning at 6 p.m. with cookies and punch. All children who come in costume are invited to march across the stage in a Halloween parade. A free bag of treats is provided for kids. The best thing, the concert is free. This is Halloween Family fun event just for you!

Bethel Baptist Church Fall Harvest Festival is this Saturday October 24th starting at 11am. This is Bethel Baptist Church’s Annual Fall Festival. There will be free games, kids carnival games, sack race, pie eating contest, pumpkin patch, arts and craft booths, food, & fun! See Roger and Michelle for info on how you can help. Rain out date of October 31, 11am to 3pm. This is a free event so come out and enjoy yourself. It will be a fun event for the entire family.

The 21st Annual Weston Applefest Celebration on the Main Street is this weekend, October 3rd and October 4th. Weston Chamber of Commerce Applefest is a popular annual event known throughout the Midwest as one of the best fall festivals in Missouri. Weston’s shopping district was designated as a historic site in 1972. That old town charm with diverse and unique shops, many of which are located in buildings that were built prior to the civil war, just adds to the ambiance of this fun filled event. All the shops are decked out for fall. There is a parade on Saturday and buses will not run from 9-11 on Saturday during the parade. Come early, park and walk to the downtown parade.

The Johnson County’s Hispanic Heritage Festival this weekend on Saturday October 3rd at Johnson County’s Oak Park Library in Overland Park KS. This is the annual Hispanic Heritage Festival. Join them for crafts, food and dance performances! Experience the Latin-American Culture through art, poetry, music, dance and refreshments. A program for the whole family. No registration is necessary. Here are some of the performances line-up; Taqui Sisacuna Dance Troupe of Peru, Poetry reading from the Latino Writers Collective, Ruben Pascottine – Paraguayan Pianist, Ole! Flamenco Dancers, and Traditional Mexican Dress Show & Dances with Ballet Folklorico of Kansas City. There are also other attractions as well as lots of kids activities throughout the festival.

The Family Tree Shawnee Oktoberfest is this Saturday October 3rd. There will be refreshments, live music, in store specials and lost of activities for kids. Free pie pumpkin for kids 12 and under.
