This is a new event, the first ever Lee’s Summit Photo Walk. This event is perfect for all ages and abilities, families and singles. It is a free event open to anyone who registers. A photo walk consists of two hours walking in a loosely organized group, taking photos and having fun. A route map steers you past varied landscapes and a leader keeps safety in mind. At the end of two hours, you meet the rest of the group to share stories, photographs, an icy drink and maybe lunch.

The route for the 2010 Lee’s Summit Photo Walk begins and ends in downtown Lee’s Summit. Along the 12 1/2  block route, the walk passes beautiful public buildings, historic homes, charming bungalows, a lumber yard, the historic train station and several downtown businesses. The route begins in front of City Hall at 220 SE Green, continues through the neighborhood south of 3rd Street and returns downtown along SE Main. The final check in and gathering place is in Mingle Restaurant at 209 SE Main, across from the historic train station.

The Lee’s Summit Oktoberfest is also this weekend. This event is presented by Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce. This is going to be a weekend full of fun activities and great live entertainment. Oktoberfest offers three stages of live entertainment, arts & craft booths, a carnival, German fare, a traditional Biergarten, children’s activities, baby and wiener dog contests, a raffle, and much, much more! Please join us this weekend for the 20th anniversary celebration!!

Summit Fair Back to School Bash is this weekend. To celebrate the Missouri Sales Tax Holiday and the opening of Macy’s and JC Penney at Lee’s Summit’s newest shopping center, Summit Fair will host a Back-to-School. This is a free event. The event will feature an entire weekend of family fun, including:

• headline act Choo Choo Soul and Mr. Stinky Feet,
• courtyard concerts,
• live art,
• magicians,
• face painters,
• a sunset street movie featuring E.T.,
• trackless train rides,
• giant sand sculptures,
• photos with Hello Kitty,
