Sam Stryke’s Holiday Jazz at KU Edwards Campus is this Tuesday December 8th. Enjoy both nostalgic renditions of favorite carols and stirring jazz improvisation! Pianist Sam Stryke and his jazz trio will bring holiday warmth to a December evening. Attendees of this event will receive a free Sam Stryke CD Sampler. ThisSam Stryke’s Holiday Jazz event is part of the school’s “Holiday Season Spectaculars.” For these special events the KU Edwards Campus is teaming up with SAFEHOME, an organization providing services and shelter for survivors of domestic violence.

Get ready for the 10th Annual Weston Irish Festival next weekend. The tenth annual Weston Irish Festival opens it’s gates Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, October 9, 10 & 11 at O’Malley’s Pub & Courtyard. Great Irish music, piping, dancing, and storytelling, along with traditional Irish food and drinks are what you’ll find at the three-day event. The festival features musicians from across the U.S., Canada and Ireland. Seventeen local, regional, and national touring acts will perform on the open-air courtyard stage as well as the two indoor pub stages. A fourth stage, adjacent to the courtyard stage, will showcase the pipers and dancers.

Save the date for the big Children’s TLC Therapeutic Learning Center event, the Crown Center Pumpkin Patch. It will take place on Saturday October 10th at Crown Center Square. For one Saturday only, Crown Center Square is transformed into a fall, family, fun-land. 30,000 pounds of pumpkins are delivered and set up to be a giant Pumpkin Patch. The Square is busy with exciting activities for children of all ages, including FREE live stage entertainment, games, concessions, pony rides, a petting zoo, inflatable’s, and of course, plenty of Pumpkins! Although some activities require tickets, there are many free activities and entertainment. In the event of bad weather on event day, a rain date has been set for October 11, 2009.

The German / American Club of Shawnee, KS, is hosting the 2009 Shawnee GAC Oktoberfest on Friday October 2nd from 5:30pm to 11pm. Children’s activities will be provided by Wonderscope and there will be inflatable moon walk and pumpkin decorating as well. There will be beer, German food and lots of entertainment. Admission is free. Kids as well as adults will love this event. It is taking place at Shawnee Civic Center located at 13817 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS 66216.

Plant Hope for Hearts Children’s Festival is this Saturday September 26th at English Landing Park in Parkville, MO. This is the 5th and Final Erika Bender Plant Hope for Hearts Children’s Festival. Come out and enjoy a family day at the park featuring music, food, daffodil planting, a silent auction, and kids games and activities. This is a unique non-profit event with benefits going to the Children’s Mercy Hospital Cardiology Fund. Volunteers will help beautify English Landing Park with daffodils while remembering Erika Bender, who passed away of Complex Congenital Heart Disease. Join them for fun, food and flowers. Admission is free but donation of any any amount will be appreciated. Alternatively, you can make a $15 donation to buy bags of daffodils for planting in park.
