Parkville Fourth of July Celebration

Historic Downtown Parkville kicks off “Stars and Stripes Forever” on Thursday, July 1 when the carnival open in the parking lot at the south end of Main Street.  But that’s just the beginning of an event that’s known as “the biggest, best all-American Independence Day celebration in the Kansas City are.” In addition to the carnival, this fun, family-style celebration includes a community parade, a pancake breakfast, a variety of food vendors, a beer tent and, of course, our big firework finale. Grand Marshal of the parade, this year, is Parkville native and Park College graduate, Major Rueben H. Siverling (U.S. Army Retired).  A highly decorated Viet Nam war veteran, Major Siverling served as a helicopter pilot and as a commander of the famous 4th Infantry Division’s Company E. Come early and bring the family for a weekend of good, old-fashioned Americana in Historic Downtown Parkville.

When is the parade?

The annual Parkville 4th of July Celebration parade will start off this exciting celebration on Saturday, July 3 at 10:00 am which begins at 63rd Street and Hwy 9 and ends in Historic Downtown Parkville.  Parade line up will begin at 9:00 am on Saturday at 63rd Street and Bell Road.

This year’s theme is “Stars and Stripes Forever”.  Monetary prizes will be awarded to the “Best Themed” entries.  All participants are asked to decorate their entries accordingly.
