Fight Parkinson’s Disease right here at home and join in on the Helen Gold Run / Walk Race this Saturday September 12, 2009. For race winners, the first place overall male and female finishers in both the 5K and the 10K will each win $100 cash and a New Balance store gift certificate. Second place overall male and female finishers will each win $50 cash and a New Balance store gift certificate. $100 bonus to the overall top male and female finishers who beat the course record: Male 15:13; Female 17:48 (5K finishers only). All proceeds from the Helen Gold Run/Walk race help fund the Parkinson’s Disease Research Center at Kansas University Medical Center.You can park at Whole Foods, Salon Spice or Johnny’s Tavern parking lots at The Fountains shopping center.

Bow Ties for Babies Gala

Bow Ties for Babies Gala, a black tie fundraising gala, is on September 12 at Downtown Marriot Hotel in Kansas City, MO. The evening’s festivities begin with hors d’ oeuvres and cocktails at 6:30 with dinner and dancing to follow. A short presentation will be made by the managing staff of Alexandra’s House. Bishop Robert Finn will deliver the invocation. This Gala is sponsored by Friends of Alexandra’s House. All proceeds will help Alexandra’s House, a charitable Perinatal Hospice for Terminally Ill Unborn, Newborn and Abandoned Babies.

Kansas City Hospice Hop

The sixth annual Kansas City Hospice Hop will take place on Saturday, August 29, 2009, at the Hyatt Regency Crown Center. This year’s theme, “Phantom Comes to the Hopera,” will evoke a mysterious atmosphere as guests will be encouraged to dress in masquerade. Entertainment throughout the night will feature opera singers. Cost for the event is $185 per person or $1850 for a table of ten.
