Holiday Traditions on the Prairie at the Historic Oxford Schoolhouse is this Saturday December 5th from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The historic one-room Oxford School is located in Ironwoods Park at 147th & Mission Road, Leawood, KS. Learn about holiday celebrations on the plains at the turn of the twentieth century. Enjoy refreshments, play games and make crafts based on the holidays of yesteryear. Help string popcorn and cranberries. Join the costumed docents in decorating the tree and singing songs from the past. Old-time musician Scott Klamm will play traditional American instruments including mountain dulcimer, Appalachian mouth bow, auto harp, guitar and mandolin.

Save the date for the 9th Annual Freaky Fall Fest hosted by the City of Leawood Parks and Recreation Department. The City of Leawood Parks and Recreation Department will present the 9th Annual “Freaky Fall Fest”, to be held at Leawood City Park (10601 Lee Blvd.) on Friday, October 23 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. Activities will include inflatables and rides, pumpkin painting, a creepy cake walk, the great pumpkin hunt, face painters, clown/balloon artists and more. There will also be dancing and costume contests (children 10 and under), Haunted Hayrides ($2.00 per ride, come early to get your ticket) and the 6th Annual “Trunk-or-Treat”. Participants can enjoy food, music and more at this “spooktacular” event! Don’t miss the fun! “Trunk-or-Treat”, Inflatables, Rides, Pumpkin Painting, and more!

Make-A-Wish Hot Air Balloon Glow fund raising event is this Saturday afternoon, September 26th from 4pm to 9pm. All proceeds will help grant wishes to area children battling life-threatening medical conditions. There will be Live Music by The Ballistics, many activities for kids, food and beverages. This is an evening of fun and for a good cause.

Like Fashion Show? This is a great fashion show for a good cause! It is the second Beauty in Flight fashion show. On September 10th, an elite and diverse collection of Kansas City’s fashion community will present a small collection of their fall fashions at Beauty in Flight: A Fashion Show to Benefit Rose Brooks Center.The emcee for the evening is Stephanie O’Dear with Spaces Magazine. Co-Chairs for Beauty in Flight are Melanie Eymann and Susan Erwood, and Sara Lafferty is the Boutique Coordinator.
