Summit Fair Back to School Bash is this weekend. To celebrate the Missouri Sales Tax Holiday and the opening of Macy’s and JC Penney at Lee’s Summit’s newest shopping center, Summit Fair will host a Back-to-School. This is a free event. The event will feature an entire weekend of family fun, including:

• headline act Choo Choo Soul and Mr. Stinky Feet,
• courtyard concerts,
• live art,
• magicians,
• face painters,
• a sunset street movie featuring E.T.,
• trackless train rides,
• giant sand sculptures,
• photos with Hello Kitty,
• the Radio Disney Rockin’ Road Crew,
• crafts with Wonderscope Children’s Museum and Powell Gardens, and
• many more events.

Looking for something fun to do for a good cause? Harvester’s Fun Fly event is upcoming and there will be a lot of fun family activities. You can enjoy yourself while supporting Harvesters and helping people in need. Harvesters’ Fun Fly is on Sat. Julyl 25th from 9am to 4pm.

The Jackson County Parks and Recreation along with the Radio Control Association of Jackson County, including the RC Sport Flyers, 49th Jumbo Squadron and KC Heli, are hosting a “Fun Fly” in support of Harvesters.

Admission and Donations

This event is open to the public. Admittance is free of charge but donations of cash and non-perishable items will be accepted. Most people bring canned foods to donate to Harvesters which is enough.

Celebrate Independence Day at Missouri Town 1855 located in Fleming Park as the staff and volunteers take you back to 1855 and share how the important date was celebrated.

• Food will be cooking on the hearths,
• musicians will be playing appropriate music and
• special speeches will be made commemorating the anniversary of independence from Great Britain.

When is the parade?

Guests are invited to join in a noon parade through the recreated antebellum community.
