This is a new event, the first ever Lee’s Summit Photo Walk. This event is perfect for all ages and abilities, families and singles. It is a free event open to anyone who registers. A photo walk consists of two hours walking in a loosely organized group, taking photos and having fun. A route map steers you past varied landscapes and a leader keeps safety in mind. At the end of two hours, you meet the rest of the group to share stories, photographs, an icy drink and maybe lunch.

The route for the 2010 Lee’s Summit Photo Walk begins and ends in downtown Lee’s Summit. Along the 12 1/2  block route, the walk passes beautiful public buildings, historic homes, charming bungalows, a lumber yard, the historic train station and several downtown businesses. The route begins in front of City Hall at 220 SE Green, continues through the neighborhood south of 3rd Street and returns downtown along SE Main. The final check in and gathering place is in Mingle Restaurant at 209 SE Main, across from the historic train station.

Paradise Park, Kansas City’s Premier Family Destination, will celebrate the Spring season by hosting “Ollie’s Egg Hunt”, featuring Paradise Park’s mascot Ollie the Otter. All Paradise Park guests with a paid admission to the children’s edutainment center on Saturday, March 27 & April 3, can hunt for eggs with Ollie the Otter in the Outdoor Adventure Play Garden. The egg hunts take place at 10:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. and the day will be filled with games and prizes.

Lee’s Summit Mayors Tree Lighting Ceremony is on Friday, November 20th. Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street will host the Mayor’s Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, November 20, 2009, at 6:30 pm at Howard Station Park in Downtown (corner of Third and SE Main).

The Mayor will light the downtown with over 100,000 sparkling lights. Free hot chocolate, musical performances and a visit from Santa, Mrs. Claus and his elves will get you in the holiday spirit! Bring your camera and snap photos with Santa, then stay awhile and visit businesses open late until 9 pm.
